Robert, began to play darts when he was 13 years old and soon after decided to join the Essex youth league in 2001, signing for Colchester. He progressed well in the youth where he went on to represent his county. He then joined the Cressing Mens Super League side at the start of the 2003 season, where he still currently plays. His game was all about steady, constant, improvement and in 2005, his final season with the youth, he won the Player of the year award, the Most tons trophy, the Pairs trophy and the Triples trophy all whilst representing Ongar who won the league that year. Unfortunately he was unable to enter the Singles and the Champions of Champions competitions.

Robert then made the decision at 18, to join the PDPA & compete on the Professional Darts Circuit thanks to the backing from his father. Robert had the choice of going to University or compete on the darts circuit- he decided to chance his arm throwing darts along side his website design business as his career.

He started competing on the circuit under the nickname of "BOBSTAR" in October 2005, his first competition being the Bob Anderson Classic. It all started superbly as he won his first ever PDC match 6-0, allowing him to play against one of the worlds top players; Mark Dudbridge in the next round, where he lost 6-2. Knowing now that he could compete against the worlds top players, Robert had the appetite for success in the sport.

After this, his first tournament, Bobstar went on to play very well picking up some great victories including defeating Alex Roy(then ranked 24th) 5-0, Dave Askew (then ranked 17th) 3-2 (in sets) & Erwin Extercatte 4-1. He defeated Erwin to become a semi-finalist in the final DDF ranking tournament of 2005 where he only narrowly lost 5-4 to Guy Christyn from Belgium. Perhaps his biggest win of all, came against the former world champion; Dennis "The Menace" Priestley who he defeated 3-2 in sets. - Read more about it here....

Robert is still in his second year on the circuit & aims to carry on climbing the rankings in the following year based on the total of his first 2 years prize money. Could 2008 be the year for "Bobstar"?
