5th November 07 - Bobstar reaches last 32 in Killarney

Bobstar travelled to Killarney this weekend hoping to keep his good form from the previous week going. The first day of the weekend, saw Bobstar play well in the non-ranked event where he narrowly lost 4-3 to Denis Ovens. Denis went on to reach the last 8 in the tournament. A good warm up to the pro tour event the next day.

Bobstars first match was against Jim Leahy, a qualifier. A strong start was made by both players, Bobstar throwing 100, 100, 100, 105 with his first 12 darts. However this was not enough as he lost the first leg without getting another shot! The second leg saw Bobstar get in front, hitting a 180 along the way, however he missed a few darts at double and saw himself 1 set down.

He now knew that he was in for a very tough game. He carried on scoring very highly, hitting many 140's. This time he didn't miss his doubles and went on to win the next 6 legs on the spin. This therefore meant he had won the match 3-1 in sets. A very competitive and high scoring game.

In the next round Bobstar faced Jason Cullen, Jason had defeated the world number 24 Wez "Av It" Newton in his first round.

Both players started of very strongly, and the first set was tightly contested. However Bobstar missed his opportunity to claim it as he missed a few darts at double. He then lost the second set 2-1 also, once again missing a few darts to win the set. Bobstar did not give up though and when Jason failed to take his chance to win the match 3-0 in sets, Bobstar took out 121 on the bullseye to save the match and take it into the fourth set. The rest of the match continued to be fierce, including a 12 dart leg and a 126 finish from Bobstar. It went all the way to the final leg. Jason had the throw and edged in front, however he missed the winning double whilst Bobstar was left on 130. He knew this was his final chance to win the game and he took it, hitting 20, treble 20, bullseye. A truly fantastic and memorable game to watch.

The next round Bobstar had to face world number 13; Barrie Bates. Bobstar started strongly and took the first set 2-1. However Barrie fought back winning the second set and the first leg of the third set. Bobstar then took out a 120 finish to make it 1-1. The final leg of the set was a very close game, which saw Bobstar miss 1 dart at double 9 before Barrie took advantage. The next set proved to be the final one as Barrie stepped up his scoring, taking it 2-0.

Another good performance by Bobstar.
