27th October 07 - Bobstar shows fine form in Germany

Bobstar was presented with a tough draw this weekend. Firstly he had a preliminary round. There were 130 entries into the tournament which meant there were only two prelim's in total. Bobstar had one of them.
He faced one of the German qualifiers from the night before which turned out to be; John Aylon. This was a good game which Bobstar won 3-1 in sets. Bobstars superb finishing proved to be the telling factor, as he hardly missed any doubles. He won the match with a 104 checkout.

His second game of the day came against top dutch player; Erwin Extercatte, a player who played in the World Championship finals in 2006, reaching the last 32. Bobstar knew he must play very well to stand any chance of getting through to the board final, especially as Erwin had won the Open Hotel Zwartewater in Holland just the week before, defeating Jan van der Rassel in the final.
Erwin came out flying winning the first leg with the throw. However Bobstar did not let this bother him, as like in the first game, his finishing in the next 2 legs was superb allowing him to claim the first set. Erwin continued to score heavily in the second set and produced two brilliant legs to draw the game level at 1 set each.
Bobstar responded in brilliant fashion by claiming the third set 2-1 against the throw, capitilising on a mistake by Erwin. The next set proved to be the final one as Bobstar held his throw to win the match 3-1 in sets, once again his finishing was brilliant.

Bobstars hard work had earnt him a board final game, against the reigning World Champion, Raymond Van Barneveld. Bobstar did not start as he would have hoped and quickly saw himself 1 set down to the World Champion. However he continued to fight and put in a great effort in the second set, only to see exactly why his opponent was the World Champion. The next set was also won by Raymond but Bobstar was extremely unlucky, particuarly in the last leg where he saw his dart fall out of the winning double 20. Never the less, it was a great days work put in by Bobstar. So lets hope he can keep up the good form.
